Grin It, Bear It, Keep It Going...

In less than 24 hours, the United States will make a dramatic shift. The leadership of this country will change hands and either a young senator who inspires the best out of people or a proven statesman who has bled for his country, will lead our future. This election season has seen a lot of memorable firsts. The two major political parties have enjoyed their spot in the limelight. Most of America has learned a lot about itself, has seen itself register record number of voters. What will follow next will be the largest voter turn out ever.

ARE YOU READY?

When this election ends, you’re either gonna celebrate or cry. You’re either gonna hug the person next to you, thank them for helping out, or be ready to point fingers, make excuses. You’re gonna believe that the future is certain, and hope will abound, or you’re gonna classically ‘threaten’ to move to Canada. It’s human. Winning, losing, and all the bizarre side effect emotions that come with either, feel what you’re going to...celebrate, mope, raise a glass, cry in your beer...take Wednesday off...

...come Thursday America, you better damn well be ready to get to back to work...

I don’t mean your job at the factory. I don’t mean being a barista at Starbucks. I don’t mean educating our youth. Trading stocks across the globe. Caring for the elderly. Preaching to the choir. I don’t mean your 9 to 5. I don’t mean what gives you a paycheck...

I mean what makes this country great, and what Americans proved during this heated election...you bring your passion for this country to the table, and you go out, and continue volunteering, continue watching the news, reading the news, writing your congressperson, senator, local public officials, meeting within your community to gather and plan for change...

REACHING ACROSS THE AISLE!

I think most folks, on either side of the spread, can agree that our country is not what it was, or could be. I think most folks are tired of fighting. Tired of seeing their leaders bicker back and forth. And I’m not talking about healthy debate, I’m talking about endlessly driving home the McCain voted with Bush, or Obama knows William Ayers...dammit people...is this what we want in our country?

I know your pain America, I know you want a hero desperately, I know you see this election as do or die, but no matter how it ends, it’s not over. You’re still alive, I’m still alive, and the energy and enthusiasm we’ve all shown for this election does not end on November 4th. It carries on forever. It carries in how we help each other out, how we volunteer, how we donate money, how hard we work, how we make sacrifices for today, to have a stronger future.

Gloating that your candidate won will not heal this country. Moping that your candidate lost will not heal this country.

Look to fellow brothers and sisters, and see that we are united because we all hope for a better future, and act on it...do something about it; move past believing that one person can change your fate, your future...

be your own future, be a leader for your country, now is the time.
